Yesterday started off well and then deteriorated.
First was work, which was ok, especially once I'd left. Then I had lunch with a friend from work. Both of us are hectically busy with kids and things and never get to see each other, so we squeezed in a quick lunch after work and before she had to pick up her kids. (I've become a lady who lunches!) We had lunch at a cool place in our village where you load up your plate (so service is instant) and then they weigh it to see how much you pay. The buffet is incredible - lots of interesting and exotic vegetable dishes as opposed to those traditional buffets with seven different types of roast meat and sweaty looking men standing behind, carving.
And then I went shopping for party things for Robyn's party which is coming up soon. Lauren and Daniel were still at home (with their grandparents), and Robyn was playing at a friend's, so I was able to go alone. Much more restful than having three kids in a arty little shop where everything screams 'Buy Me! Touch Me! Try Me!' I found a bunch of little wooden boxes and wooden cutout shapes (fairies, butterflies, dinosaurs, and more), which I'm going to use for the party activity. The idea is they paint the boxes, paint the cutouts, and glue the shapes on the boxes.
Then I went home, picked up Daniel, and took him to his checkup, the first one since his Botox injection two weeks ago. As we already knew, the eye is better but not straight yet. And his eyelid is drooping now - the Botox has spread to the eyelid. Apparently this is a listed side-effect of the procedure, but the opthalmologist says it has never happened to him before. Sigh. He's going to give it three more weeks. I suspect surgery is on the cards. I told Peter he had to come with me to the hospital next time. It was bad enough being on my own for the minor procedure. I think I will need more support for the eye surgery.
After that it was home again to discover that I have received a summons for one of the (ahem, three) speeding fines I have received recently, and paid some weeks ago. I sent one cheque for two tickets (bulk purchasing, don't you know), and it seems they have not recorded the payment correctly against one of them.
Gah.
