As the election results came in, and it became apparent what the outcome would be, one of my reactions was that as time goes by America is becoming less and less of a country I would like to visit.

How can all those people give this evil administration such a stamp of approval for what it's done.

On the other hand, though, there must be 10s of millions of people there who must be incredibly frustrated and angry about what is happening to their country. So I guess you just surround yourself with those people, and try and be civil to the rest. Having grown up in South Africa gives one a lot of practice at that.

And I find it ludicrous that here in 2004 in a supposedly civilised society, people are actually supporting banning gay marriage. It is absolutely unbelievable to me that people can be so filled with hate for people who are different to them. Why is it so hard to live and let live?
