It's been a nice few days, even though we didn't go away. Yesterday was a public holiday - Woman's Day - which must be the most misinterpreted public holiday in the calendar, with many people viewing it as a Mothers Day-like, breakfast-in-bed sort of day. Alas, my husband is more politically aware than that.
Big news yesterday was Robyn having a break-through bike-riding moment. For the first time ever she actually got the hang of the balance thing. Running behind the bike (wheeze, pant) we were suddenly feeling the bike balancing on its own. She was so pleased. She's always been quite scared about the falling aspect of learning to ride and so its great she suddenly got it. This weekend we are going to go to our local park which has a gravel path which may work well for the kids to learn on. Lauren, not to be outdone, was determine to succeed too and insisted I let go of her bike. She zoomed down the slope for a couple of metres and then careered into a flower bed. It's tough for her always to be doing things after Robyn. She's really quite good at physical stuff but she compares herself to Robyn an awful lot and sometimes gets a bit down about it.
Lauren's party invitations for her party on the 20th are going out today. She's taking them to school to distribute. This year we are throwing her a chef's party - the kids will be making chefs' hats, having a treasure hunt, making their own ice cream sundae and baking gingerbread.
Run, run as fast as you can. I'm the unhygienically-prepared gingerbread man.
