So Robyn seemed a little less unhappy yesterday than Wednesday.
I have this wonderful friend at work whose kids are a bit older (11 and 13). It is nice being able to talk to someone who has been through this stage of childhood with her own children. She is one of the most honest people I have ever met.
To Peter and me, Robyn seems to have quite high emotional maturity for her age. She seems to be able to think through her emotions and the reasons for them quite carefully, and this helps her deal with them in constructive ways.
She has invited a new friend home to play next week, which is a nice positive thing to have happened at this point. The mom sounded really nice on the phone, and they live just around the corner from us.
And now, in a tedious turn of events, I have to go to Renault to find out why the CD player is not working. I can't eject whatever is in there. I suspect the involvement of a child and a pair of CDs. This is annoying as it means it won't be covered by the guarantee. I am desperate to get it sorted out however, as I am stuck, knife-edge, between parts 1 and 2 of chapter ten of Lady Chatterly's Lover.

Glad Robyn is okay about it all. Helping kids deal with that sort of stuff is really gut-wrenching.
