Eeeewww.

The girls have developed a new and nasty habit, thanks to Peter introducing them to bubble gum on Valentine's Day. Their attempts at bubble blowing are indescribably revolting. There's no hope of blowing the bubble with the gum actually in their mouths of course. Instead, they plaster the gum on the outside of their mouths to blow bubbles. They then leer triumphantly through the sticky pink popped mess.

On a distinctly less icky note, Peter and I looked at new bathroom stuff for an hour or so at lunch-time. It was fun picking out shiny new taps, tiles, and basins, etc. And I am quite excited at the prospect of having a shower door! Actually, come to think of it, a shower would be neat in itself. To date it has been at least a year since our shower was operational.

All this is in preparation for the Great Extensions to be held later this year. So far I have two quotes on the actual building and I'm waiting for a third. Unfortunately it is mind-numbingly expensive, and I suspect (though I may be wrong) that we could sell this house and buy one that provided the extra space we need for less than the extensions are going to cost. However, I feel totally unable to move out of this house. The garden is so gorgeous, and there aren't that many houses around here with gardens that are quite big and relatively flat and well-established. Plus, over the last few years, we've put in a pool, a jungle gym, a trampoline, fruit trees, and now we're building the wendy house. I feel very attached to the place, and feel like I've invested a lot of energy in it. So moving is out. And this house is definitely going to be too small for us as the years go on and the kids get older. And we would need to gut and re-decorate the bathrooms and kitchen, even if we didn't extend the house. It will be fun planning the new kitchen layout. Apparently some people even have their dishwasher inside the kitchen!
