On this Wonday * evening I'm sitting cosily in bed with milo, the computer, and the cat, who is totally soppy and clingy after spending the long weekend at the cattery. Cuddling a purring cat is one of the most relaxing things in the world. And one of my favourite childhood memories too.
It was a fantastic weekend at the beach. It did me so much good to have nothing to do for four days but relax with the family. I enjoy spending weekends at home too, but there is the constant pull between what I want to do and what I feel I should be doing. It's good to be in a place where there is nothing more important to be done than potter about rockpools, dig enormous holes, and play soccer with your children. The kids had an awesome time too, and they got along well with the kids of the friends we went with. They were undeterred by the misty rainy weather we had on Monday. It was so warm that they were able to swim, dig, explore and beachcomb very happily in the rain. We did all look rather bedraggled though. The beach was pretty empty that day, although there was another family there doing pretty much the same things as we were.
"Mad dogs and mothers..." smiled the other mom as we clambered damply past each other over the rocks.
Pictures to come soon hopefully.
The weekend did a lot to shake off the effects of last week. I'm still angry about The Stupid Teacher, but since there's nothing I can do, and she's entitled to her opinion, I suppose all I can do is wait and see and hope that things get better for Robyn and that the teacher's opinion of her does not negatively affect her response to Robyn for the rest of the year and that Robyn's confidence is not adversely affected.
This is my calm and rational reaction to the situation. The other me wants to punch her face in.
On the house renovations front, it's time to bite the bullet and go for it. I've checked out some references now, and unsurprisingly they were all favourable. The builder would hardly be likely to give me references for jobs that turned out duds. All this really proves is that there have been at least some satisfactory jobs in the last few years.
* A Wednesday that feels like a Monday.
