Gavin - the part spanning the gap between the original house and the garage is made up of a family room at the front (TV, music, planned huge bookshelves for books, games, and puzzles, computer desk, nice and big, lots of space to spread out for the kids' slot cars) and a kitchen extension at the back. The family room is connected to the original lounge and to the kitchen extension via double doors so we can have everything open most of the time but shut the doors when we have friends around and all the kids watch a noisy movie while we sit and yak. The new front door opens onto the original lounge. The intention for the lounge is a cozy round-the-fireplace thing (think The Farm) so there is space to walk in through the front door.
Pics tonight promise.
