This morning saw all of us, bleary-eyed, in the family room, while Lauren opened her presents. She loved them. It's raining again today, so this afternoon instead of going to the park with Janine and the kids as planned, we will come home and play with them. It always seems a bit wrong to me that normal things like school and work should go on as usual on a birthday, but she was quite happy to go to school and tell them all about her presents. She wore her new clips from Danny and her new straw hat, which unfortunately is a little small but which she refuses to contemplate exchanging. This evening she will get to choose what's for supper, on Friday she'll have her birthday ring at school, and on Saturday she'll get to choose the entire day's activities. I suspect going down to the beach front with the new roller blades may be on the cards.
