The first round of Robyn's speech and drama festival is today. We're not invited though. Each of them has to say their individual poem for the external adjudicators. I'm glad they are having external adjudicators. I don't trust Mrs Twit's poetic skills.

This is the poem she has chosen. She says it so well - as far as I can tell, anyway. If she doesn't do well then I honestly don't know what she should have done differently, and both of us will be terribly disappointed.

IN THE JELLY JUNGLE
- Jan Dean

In the Jelly Jungle
Wild beasts and snakes
Make their dens in ice-cream caves
And sleep on chocolate cakes.

In the Jelly Jungle
The sausage-roll bird sings
Lays its eggs in spaghetti nests
And preens its syrup wings.

In the Jelly Jungle
The crocodile will doze
In a swamp of custard
With a cherry on his nose.
