So Spring has sprung! Though it's actually rather cold and windy this week. Bright sunshine though, so quite invigorating weather. Peter and I had breakfast in the sun this morning at our favourite local haunt. The kids have been doing springy, flowery things at school this week.
Big news for Danny is that he is loving his big-boy bike. Next time we go to ride bikes at the beachfront I suspect we will have Robyn's bike, Lauren's bike, Lauren's skates, Daniel's bike, and Daniel's toddler motorbike.
I went to book club last night. I am starting to settle in and feel more at home now. They are a really nice bunch of women but I have felt a bit new-girl-ish for most of the year - just natural when you are a newcomer to a group of 12 people who know each other well (though 12 members, usually there are between six to eight of us at any given meeting). Or at least natural for me. I am not good in large groups of unfamiliar people. I have stopped beating myself up about it now and keep pretty quiet until I am in a smaller circle - three or four I can handle quite well. I think it is partly because in a large group you have to be very quick at responses to even get a word in edgewise - and I tend to weigh and consider things before I speak.
Next month it is going to be at my house. Unfortunately there will still be great big tracts of empty floor, but at least there will be curtains. I am ridiculously excited about the Arrival of the Curtains. We have not had any curtains for months now. Even Peter, who used to frantically close our bedroom curtains in the stifling heat of summer, has got quite blase about our Room with a View.
I am feeling very industrious and thrifty as I have had our old curtains cleaned and am in the process of putting together an advert for our local supermarket community advertising board. I hope to make a few hundred bucks off the old curtains, or at least cover the cost of having had them cleaned.
Robyn, who has been clamouring for her own room for about two years, has suddenly got scared of imaginary monstery stuff and may not even want to move into her new room. Shriek! It is still concrete-floored and full of building debris but the curtains are on the way, the built-in cupboards have been ordered and as soon as they are in I will get the carpet. I hope she likes it in the end. Otherwise we may have to threaten her with a pink barbie duvet set to blend in with Lauren's new theme and and colour scheme (barbie princess bedding, lavendar (oh alright, purple) walls, and bright flowery curtains).
