Ack, blog black hole again.

Just too much happening really.

Good news: Daniel's eye seems to be recovering. Really, really slowly, and not exactly steadily. Generally, people who only seem him every few days, like his grandparents, and friends of ours, notice the improvements more easily, whereas the day-to-day change is usually barely detectable. But if he keeps progressing, we hopefully won't need to intervene surgically. We're still eye-patching his good eye every day. Amazing how important knowledge is. Our opthalmologist hasn't done anything other than to keep checking his eye, and to prescribe the patches. No medication, no fancy procedures. But if we hadn't done the patching, he quite likely would have lost his sight in that eye.

Decisions: School, school, school. Robyn starts grade 1 next year. We put off the decision of where to send her to Big School by keeping her at her preschool for grade 0, whereas she could have started somewhere else this year. The private schools in our area start at grade 0 whereas the government school starts at grade 1. But now we are in the thick of application forms, long mental pro and con lists, and financial stresses. Trying to assess issues such as single-sex primary schooling (which I'm not mad about), single-sex secondary schooling (which I prefer, I think), switching schools later, school fees, class sizes, quality of facilities and activities, academic excellence, opportunities for flexible learning programs, etc, etc.

Money, money, money. How much to spend, where to invest, what to focus on. Ack. How does anyone afford to retire?? Seems an impossible task to save enough money for this. Got to get ourselves organised. Top of my fridge white-board to-do list is now Book Appointment with Financial Advisor.
