Quiet day yesterday but nice. My parents came for their weekly visit and picked up the kids from school, so Peter and I had lunch together as we sometimes do on grandparent days. Peter has just acquired a new phone and is totally in love with it. He has become rabid in his attempts to get me to upgrade mine. Not that I am anti new phone technology, it's just way too far on the to-do list to even make it on to the to-do list. I guess maybe I am just assuming something awful will happen to my current phone, as usually occurs with my phones, and this will force me into getting a new one. The phone before the phone before this one died after a dip in the Indian Ocean when I was diving after toddler Robyn who got tumbled by a wave as we were walking along the beach through the ankle-deep waves. The phone after that mysteriously lost its display (ok, so it might have been dropped occasionally) until dialling someone became something of a surprize for both parties. The one I have now is very modest, but it actually works, which is good enough for me. For now.

Don't make the mistake of asking Peter about phones. Yesterday at lunch he actually accosted someone at the next table who was typing on a wireless keyboard and made this guy demonstrate it to me.

Peter's upgrade has been quite dramatic, as the phone he had before was even older than mine. It didn't even have predictive text. This has been almost as exciting for Peter as surfing the web and sending email from his phone. Did you know Rosanne in predictive text is Ropebood? Actually has quite a nice ring to it.

I must admit, I might be tempted by one of these virtual keyboards.

Later on in the afternoon I had tea with a friend Janine when she dropped Robyn off at our house. Robyn had been playing with her daughter after school. Daniel and her son Kyle, who is a year younger, had fun riding black bikes around the pool. They are a really nice family and very down to earth. Kyle will be joining Daniel at school next year.

Janine is a graphic artist who wants to do something different. This leads me to pipe dream # 35476: Develop fantastically popular series of children books with Janine as illustrator.

I have just tipped coffee all over my keyboard. Guess I really could do with one of those virtual ones.
