Looking back on the to-do list... I actually did quite well. That day, anyway.
That box of eye patches didn't last very long. Danny is getting a whole lot more savvy at ripping them off his face. We frequently go through three a day, and even then we're often not making the full six hours a day. I've got to admit I'm getting a little frustrated about this squint thing. I've finally got used to calling it a squint, not a virus, when people ask about it. May as well call a spade a spade.
St Mary's is a wonderful-looking school. The work looks really creative and inspired. I'm sure Robyn would love it. The primary school has this wonderful Creativity Centre which is a huge multi-purpose venue which they use for science, art, drama, music, etc. And they seem to have a really good approach to educating the whole person.
Just got to decide whether we can afford it.
We can afford it now, only there's no guarantee we'll be able to afford it in 3, 5, or 7 years time. So it's a little scary. My working part-time has cut our income by a quarter, and some of our income is in the form of company dividends, which we shouldn't really rely on.
We really want the girls to go to high school there though.
Maybe we should just save frantically now for high school and at least be sure of that, rather than spend the money on primary school.
But the school looks so phenomenal.
And what if she doesn't get in at a later stage.
And what if she doesn't fit in at a later stage.
And what if our house doesn't fit in. Or our car. Or our holiday destinations.
Speaking of which, I've now received the kids' passport forms and need to get them filled in. Only it doesn't look as though we'll be able to visit the UK in July now, because of The Eye. The doctor wants to see us again on 19 April, to decide whether to go for the Botox injection in early May.
And the Mystery of the Vanishing Architect has been solved. This guy suddenly disappeared from view, and I could not track him down at all. Apparently, he got himself overworked and very stressed (they've just had a new baby!), and closed down the company. Which explains the total lack of response to my emails and phone messages, and finally, the unsympathetically automated 'This number does not exist' message.
Got to get hold of someone else now and start the whole process again.
Tomorrow is the last day of the kids' first term at school. Lauren's swimming season ended with the usual gala.
Here she is with her class. You can see Peter in the picture because Lauren's class is a parent-child one. I really like the way the teacher, Meg, does this. All kids do their first few seasons with their parents in the pool, until they feel confident enough not to need them.

And this next one is a bit out of focus, but I'm so proud to actually have captured a dive on camera, after 3 years of trying and achieving lots of photos of after-splashes, that I'm including it anyway.

And here's Lauren at the end with her edible medal and her best buddy Alex.
