This week is just dragging by. I do not want to be here while the kids are on holiday. At least the girls are having fun at their holiday club, which finishes tomorrow. On Monday they got to experience some cool reptiles close up and had a python slither across their legs. Tuesday was a fantasy and dress-up today. Today they are making papier-mache creations. They are both really enjoying it. Lauren is particularly excited about it, even though she was miserable for the first couple of minutes on the first morning, when Peter dropped them off. Robyn's slightly more blase about it, being so much more worldly and experienced, at age 6. Lauren is the sort of person who would never do anything new if not pushed a little. I wonder if she will always be like that. I hope I am doing the right thing in occasionally pushing her a little.
My parents-in-law are coming today for their weekly visit. (I have asked them to pick up nappies. I hope they remember as I left Angie and Daniel with one nappy only this morning. Angie seemed slightly nervous.) My dad-in-law usually cooks supper for us when visits, and one of my favourite ways to spend an hour in the afternoon is sitting perched on the kitchen counter chatting to him while he chops meat and carrots for the stew and slices beans (did you know you can get a special little gadget for slicing beans lengthwise, and they actually do taste better cut that way). He's one of the most interesting people I know.
